Linz
-- February 06, 2006---NANOIDENT AG, the leading
manufacturer of organic photodetectors, has appointed
Univ. Prof. Mag. Dr. Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci to
its Advisory Board. With immediate effect, the
globally renowned scientist supports NANOIDENT
AG with his unique scientific knowledge in the
area of organic semiconductors, his experience
from international research projects and his contacts
to outstanding scientists of various disciplines.
NANOIDENT's CEO Klaus G. Schroeter explained, "We welcome Prof. Sariciftci
to our Scientific Advisory Board. He is a visionary and leading scientist,
who, together with the discoverer of organic semiconductors, Nobel Laureate
Prof. Alan Heeger, has laid the foundations for a new semiconductor industry." Prof.
Sariciftci added, "NANOIDENT's successes in developing the world's first organic
photodetectors reveal NANOIDENT's potential to significantly advance the development
of the organic semiconductor industry."
Prof. Sariciftci is established as a leading scientist in the field of organic
photophysics. From 1995 to 2000, he worked side by side with Nobel Laureate
Prof. Alan Heeger, the discoverer of organic semiconductors, at Santa Barbara,
University of California. Prof. Sariciftci and Prof. Heeger discovered the
possibility of photo induced charge transfer in organic donoracceptor systems,
providing the basis for organic photodetectors and solar cells. In 2000, Prof.
Sariciftci, who is married to a woman from Carinthia, founded the Linz Institute
for Organic Solarcells LIOS, which today is the leader in the field of organic
photophysics.
Together Prof. Sariciftci and NANOIDENT's CTO Franz Padinger explored the fundamentals
of organic solar cells and are today considered the fathers of organic solar
cells. Prof. Sariciftci's Institute has spawned numerous leading scientists,
such as NANOIDENT's CTO Franz Padinger, Christoph Brabec, Director of the Polymer
Research Department of the company KONARKA Inc. or Vladimir Dyakonov, Director
of the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research (ZAE Bayern). The current
research work of Prof. Sariciftci is focused on organic field effect transistors
(OFETs). Only recently, he achieved another breakthrough in his scientific
research activities presenting the world's fastest OFET, more than 10 times
faster than all other existing OFETs. About NANOIDENT AG:
