• 1978-1984: preparatory school for University: Bonifatius College, Utrecht (78-80), and Cals College, Nieuwegein (80-84).
• 1984-1991: University of Utrecht, School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences: Physics. Specialization Foundations of Physics. Degree: Doctorandus (comparable to MSc).
• 1990-1991: University College of Wales and University of Amsterdam: postgraduate diploma course in Environmental Impact Assessment.
• 1991-1992: Open University (Netherlands): three courses in Economics, one in Political Science.
• 1 November 1992- 30 September 1994: Netherlands Graduate School for Science and Technology Studies (I received a certificate but no Doctorate degree.)
