Michael Anissimov lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been reading and writing about transhumanism, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence since the mid 90s. In 2001 he co-founded the Immortality Institute for Infinite Lifespans with Bruce J. Klein.

He has given talks on transhumanist subjects to audiences at conferences in New Haven, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. His primary focus is on issues related to nanotechnology and the possible creation of superhuman intelligence.

He serves as Advocacy Director for the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
