BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2005--Nanorex, a molecular
engineering software company, named Dr. K. Eric Drexler as the company's Chief
Technical Advisor. Dr. Drexler will play a leading role in shaping Nanorex's
product strategy and advancing the company's academic outreach programs.
"We are very excited to have Dr. Drexler join our
team," said Mark Sims, President and founder of Nanorex. "With
his unparalleled knowledge of molecular design, Drexler
will help nanoENGINEER-1 become the premiere design
software in this field." Sims aims to create top-of-the
line molecular engineering tools for researchers
and students pushing the frontier in molecular design
and nanoscale engineering.
"Computational modeling tools will play a crucial
role in guiding nanomechanical engineering research
and help identify novel pathways for fabricating
productive nanosystems," said Dr. Drexler. "Nanorex
has assembled a world-class team of engineers and
scientists developing nanoENGINEER-1, which I anticipate
will become a compelling educational and research
tool for future nanoengineers."
K.
Eric Drexler is often described as the "father
of nanotechnology." His theoretical research in this
field has been the basis for his three books, including
Nanosystems: Molecular Machinery, Manufacturing,
and Computation, and numerous journal articles. In
1986, Drexler founded the Foresight Nanotech Institute,
a non-profit think tank and public interest organization
focused on nanotechnology. He was awarded a PhD from
MIT in Molecular Nanotechnology (the first degree
of its kind).
About Nanorex
Nanorex Inc., based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan,
is a developer of computational modeling tools made
specifically for the design and analysis of productive
nanosystems. Nanorex's first product, nanoENGINEER-1,
is a 3D nanomechanical CAD program. It includes both
a sophisticated CAD module for the design and modeling
of atomically precise components and assemblies,
and a molecular dynamics module for setting up and
simulating mechanical nanodevices. nanoENGINEER-1
is currently under development and is scheduled for
release in early 2006. For more information about
