Singapore,
October 31 st , 2005 – Singular ID Pte.
Ltd., the brand protection solution provider, announced
today that it has received a major order for its
brand protection system from Sanden International
(Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (SIS), a leading multinational
component manufacturer in the automotive industry.
Singular ID has developed an integrated system to
prevent both counterfeiting and product diversion,
a key component of which are tags containing micro-
and nanometer sized magnetic features that are prohibitively
difficult to fake and so confer a unique identity
to an item on which they are attached. These tags
are authenticated using proprietary scanners that
make a connection back to a remote and secure database.
“Those who have been following our progress will
see that this an important culmination of a flurry
activity; in the last few months we have raised venture
capital finance, demonstrated the authentication
of our tags remotely from three continents, and executed
several important agreements to enable components
of our system to be manufactured on a commercial
scale”, states Dr Adrian Burden, Chief Executive
Officer of Singular ID. “Despite being a nanotechnology-based
company, we have always emphasized the importance
of an order book that generates revenue and provides
traction in the market place. We believe that today's
announcement is a very significant achievement for
our team.”
Although Singular ID and SIS will not be drawn on
the details of the contract, the fact that SIS is
a major manufacturer lends significant credibility
to the solution being provided. Moreover, there is
significant scalability from this key account
with a number of other product models manufactured
and distributed across the world being suitable for
tagging in the future.
“The automotive and aerospace industry is an important
sector for us because the problem of counterfeit
goods is on the increase and there are few brand
protection solutions that are suitable. For example,
RFID technology can tighten the supply chain and
provide a hurdle to counterfeiters, but it remains
fairly expensive and has issues with operating in
metallic environments. Other marking technologies
such as shot-peening and laser etching can generate
two-dimensional barcodes, but these are relatively
easy to reproduce once you have invested in the capital
equipment”, comments Dr Peter Moran, Singular ID's
Chief Technology Officer.
Singular ID has already worked closely with SIS
to understand the specific requirements of the system
and how to seamlessly implement the solution into
the production line. This is a key aspect of Singular
ID's offering; being able to tailor the system for
a particular range of products and take into account
the nuances of the manufacturing processes, the distribution
network, and the consumer profile.
Magnus Gittins, Chief Executive Officer of Advance
Nanotech, Inc (OTC BB:AVNA.OB), a key investor in
Singular ID, adds, “Singular ID has made significant
progress in all areas of their business. This order
shows how quickly a focused start-up company can
bring its ideas to market, and we believe, offers
strong validation of Advance Nanotech's investment
strategy.”
The new system will be delivered and rolled out
during the second quarter of 2006, coinciding with
the scheduled launch of Singular ID's evaluation
kit.
