Woburn,
MA, April 26, 2004 BioTrove, Inc., a biotechnology
company developing and commercializing nano-fluidic
systems for the life sciences, today announced the
appointment of Alan B. Carter as Vice President, Worldwide
Sales. Mr. Carter has 20 years of experience in analytical
and biotechnology instrumentation, including 10 years
of experience in the field of genetic and protein
analysis. Most recently, Mr. Carter served as the
Executive Director of Business Development at GeneLogic
(NASDAQ: GLGC).
Alan brings a tremendous depth of experience in sales
and knowledge of the life science marketplace, said
Patrick T. Carroll, Chief Business Officer for BioTrove.
His vast experience will play a major role as we begin
to present our Living Chip platform and Momentum Assay
Development and Screening technologies to customers,
as well as begin to seek beta sites for products to
be released later this calendar year. Mr. Carroll
also noted that BioTrove plans to launch its first
product from the Living Chip platform in the coming
months. The company recently introduced its Momentum
screening service, which unlocks the value of intractable
drug targets.
I am extremely pleased to have Alan join us as the
latest member of Biotroves experienced executive team,
said Robert Ellis, President and Chief Executive Officer.
This team, along with the recent progress made in
our platforms, enables us to readily pursue our commercialization
efforts.
Prior to joining BioTrove, Mr. Carter was responsible
for developing GeneLogics pharmaceutical revenue as
their Executive Director of Business Development.
Before this, he served as Sales Director of Pharmaceutical
Accounts for Celera Genomics, which he joined after
serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for
Lark Technologies. Mr. Carter began his experience
in the field of genetic and protein analysis with
Applied Biosystems where he served as Western Regional
Manager. Prior to Applied Biosystems, Mr. Carter was
a Western Regional Manager with Polygen Corporation
and a sales representative with Perkin Elmer Corporation.
He holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Virginia
Tech.
About the Living Chip
The Living Chip is a broadly applicable nano-liter
fluidics technology platform for massively parallel
and low-volume analysis of genetic, genomic, proteomic,
biochemical and cellular samples. The platform uniquely
combines the parallelism of microarrays with the data
quality and sensitivity of PCR to perform genetic
and genomic assays, including genotyping and RNA expression
analysis.
About Momentum Assay Development and Screening
Momentum Assay Development and Screening is a patent-protected,
ultra high-throughput mass spectrometry service that
enables microliter-scale functional assay development
and screening of challenging targets with promising
biology that are generally not pursued. In the interest
of accelerating discovery, companies often choose
to forego many highly promising targets, because of
the complexity in developing screening assays around
such targets. Momentum dissolves this bottleneck,
transforming the drug discovery process by providing
assay development and screening for these targets.
About BioTrove, Inc.
BioTrove, Inc. is a biotechnology company focused
on advancing life science and drug discovery research
by leveraging revolutionary micro- and nano-scale
technologies. BioTrove has two core platforms: the
Living Chip, a broadly applicable nano-liter fluidics
technology platform for massively parallel and low-volume
analysis of genetic, genomic, proteomic, biochemical
and cellular samples and Momentum Assay Development
and Screening, an assay development and high throughput
screening service that unlocks the value of intractable
drug targets.
