YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2004--The NanoBusiness
Alliance, the world's leading nanotechnology trade association
(www.nanobusiness.org) today announced that co-founder
Mark Modzelewski is stepping down from his position
as Executive Director, to co-found Lux Research where
he will assume the position of Managing Director. The
NanoBusiness Alliance has named Sean Murdock as his
successor.
Sean Murdock joins the Alliance having built the leading
regional Nanotechnology initiative in AtomWorks, and
having spent several years at McKinsey initiating
the firm's nanotechnology efforts.
"This
transition has been a year in the planning. We could
think of no better and more experienced person than
Sean to assume this role, as he has been a leader
in the nanotechnology community in the midwest and
nationally," said Mark Modzelewski. "Sean's
background at AtomWorks as an entrepreneur and at
McKinsey will provide the Alliance with the right
person and the right skill sets to drive the further
development of the industry."
"I'm
excited to join the Alliance, as Mark and co-founder
Nathan Tinker have done a remarkable job in catalyzing
the industry, establishing policy leadership, and
providing a forum for those commercializing nanotechnology,"
said Sean Murdock. "Going forward, we will deliver
even greater value to current and future Alliance
members as nanotechnology becomes a business reality
in a wide range of industries."
The
transition will occur over the course of the summer
of 2004 to ensure continuity and ongoing expansion
of Alliance programs and services. The Advisory Board
and other staff, including event staff, will remain
unchanged and continue operations as usual.
Mark
will continue to focus on public policy issues and
guide the Alliance's efforts in Washington, D.C.
