N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2004--NanoDynamics,
Inc., a leading manufacturer of superior nanomaterials,
today announced that Dr. Alan Rae has joined the company
as Vice President of Market and Business Development.
In this role, Dr. Rae will manage the ND Innovations
strategic business unit and will be responsible for
developing markets and business opportunities for
commercial products. Dr. Rae will report to Keith
Blakely, CEO of NanoDynamics.
Dr. Rae is a prominent technologist with 25 years
of experience in the field of advanced materials.
Most recently, Dr. Rae was elected the first Director
of Research of the National Electronics Manufacturing
Initiative (NEMI), an industry-led consortium focused
on strengthening the global electronics manufacturing
supply chain. As head of NEMI's newly organized Research
Committee, Dr. Rae works with the committee to organize
and publish NEMI research priorities, present those
priorities to research institutes and funding organizations,
identify funding opportunities, monitor industry progress
toward NEMI's goals, and monitor progress in nanotechnology
research.

Prior
to joining NanoDynamics, Dr. Rae most recently served
as the Vice President of Technology for Cookson Electronics.
Prior to that, he served in several technical and
production capacities at TAM Ceramics, the world leader
in the development of ceramic materials for advanced
electronics, including barium titanate, zirconia,
and zircon. Dr. Rae was instrumental in the acquisition
of the Sun Valley barium titanate operation from DuPont,
as well as the divestiture of TAM to Ferro Corporation
in 1999. Additionally, Dr. Rae was responsible for
construction of an advanced ceramic powders plant
and arranging numerous international licenses of technology
at Anzon Limited, a subsidiary of the Cookson Group.
Dr.
Rae received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry
from Aberdeen University, as well as a PhD in Metallurgy
and Engineering Materials and a Masters of Business
Administration from Newcastle Upon Tyne.
