Buffalo,
NY | December 14, 2004
NanoDynamics, a leading nanotechnology organization
and manufacturer of superior nanomaterials, announced
today that it will introduce its revolutionary new golf
ball, the NDMX, at the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show in
Orlando, Florida. Frankly Golf will showcase the NDMX
golf ball as a Frankly Innovation in the Frankly Golf
booth # 3815 from January 27-30, 2005.
The
NDMX golf ball incorporates NanoDynamics' patented
NDMX technology, which is designed to improve performance
by focusing on the physics of a golf ball's rotation
and enhancing energy transfer between the club head
and golf ball. The NDMX technology is expected to
provide ball manufacturers with a new set of design
and material parameters that can be used to produce
optimal performance for a variety of player skill
levels. By designing a ball whose rotational speed
is reduced, the potential for hooking and slicing
is diminished.
In
addition to straighter drives, the NDMX technology
is expected to improve roll characteristics of the
ball on the green resulting in truer putts. As an
extra benefit, the core of the NDMX golf ball is completely
recyclable.
NanoDynamics
has also announced the hiring of Frank Thomas, founder
of Frankly Golf and former USGA Technical Director,
as a consultant and technical advisor to the NDMX
golf ball initiative. Mr. Thomas will be responsible
for assuring that NanoDynamics and their advanced
technology will have a positive effect on the integrity
of the game of golf. During his 26-year tenure with
the USGA, Mr. Thomas developed and directed one of
the most respected research and testing teams in golf
and is responsible for setting international equipment
standards, which govern balls and clubs for the multi-billion
dollar equipment industry. In addition, as a founding
Trustee of the prestigious World Scientific Congress
of Golf Trust, he has supported, stimulated and promoted
all forms of scientific research related to the game
of golf and is credited with inventing the graphite
golf shaft while working for the Shakespeare Sporting
Goods Company.
"I
look forward to working with NanoDynamics on the NDMX
concept, which has the potential to revolutionize
and revitalize the golf ball industry," stated
Frank Thomas. "The NDMX technology will provide
a more efficient projectile for a wide range of golfer
skill levels and I believe it will enhance the game
of golf."
In
an effort to address early customer interest, NanoDynamics
has launched the www.ndmxgolf.com website, and has
begun to accept pre-orders for the NDMX golf ball,
which will be available in the first quarter of 2005.
Additionally, the website is designed to help educate
consumers and manufacturers about the benefits of
the NDMX technology. Manufacturers interested in learning
more about the NDMX technology and how they can incorporate
it into their own golf ball designs can contact Dr.
Alan Rae, VP Business and Market Development, at area@nanodynamics.com.
